FIINȚA... - THE BEING...

I had mentioned, in the early days of this blog, in 2010, the relation between life, and being...
from the philosophy classes, in the fifth year of architecture, I learned that one can loose the life, but not the being...
the being is the one that overpasses the physical life...
for example, the personalities loose their life, but their being gets over generations, over centuries...
Eminescu, Brâncuși, Mozart, Gandhi, are persons who's beings are lasting long after their earthy life...

generally speaking, every construction is a proof of the being of those who designed it, founded it, built it... these are places we visit, that become symbols, models of civilisation and spirituality of their times: churches, fortresses, palaces...

but there also are statues, monuments, small graveyards where nobody stops... even located close to crowded roads, people are rapidly passing, in hurry, nobody literally stops there...

the first place of this kind that I present to you is the Șelimbăr monument, close to very crowded road that takes you from Sibiu to south, to Bucharest...
(even I passed by for dozens of times until I took a half of an hour break to step down, and take the photos)
(even me, it took to me over a year to conceive and to upload pictures taken a year before... yes, the pictures are from the last year winter)

the ensemble is made in 1932, in the memory of the soldiers of Michael the Brave, who died here in 1599 (Michael the Brave was the first one who united, for a short period of time, the romanian territories), and in the memory of all the victims of the First World War, from all the country...
initially, here were buried 33 romanian and 8 austrian soldiers from the World War One; afterwards, the remains were moved under the altar of the Șelimbăr church...

the ensemble is very well designed, and I hope there always will be two trees to complete the meanings and the aspect of the place...
